TnT: Taylor Swifts' Shake It Off Shuffle and the NFL

I have been a fan of the Kelce brothers since we moved out to Ohio. My husband told me they were from Cleveland Heights when we moved out here and I think living near "where a celebrity grew up" is kind of a cool thing... call me strange. Anyway, I already knew who Travis Kelce was because of the stupid Chiefs… (sorry, not sorry). I grew up a Broncos fan, so naturally, I hate the Chiefs, and they are on the TV so much during football season, between Taylor Swift, Patty Mahomes, and their Super Bowl appearances, so there is no escaping the Chiefs Kingdom!!! I knew who Jason Kelce was because my son has rocked the center position throughout his youth football journey, so I have watched a lot of clips listening to my husband teach our son how to play the position properly!
I have not always followed the game of football well, but over the last few years I have made it a point to understand more about the game. When football is life for your soul mate and best friend, you take the time to understand the game better! I may have even developed a gambling habit… (Travis, Bro, I need some Touchdowns from you this year).
Now with that little background of the brothers and my knowledge, I decided to turn on an episode of New Heights. I know about the Kelce Brothers' podcast but haven’t really taken the time to listen to a full episode. I’m really glad I did. My first episode of choice was a recent one with a guest appearance from Adam Sandler! I was not disappointed!
While watching the episode giggling off and on while these guys talk about Happy Gilmore and all the sports they played as kids, I started imagining what it would be like to have Mike and Evo do a joint episode with Jason and Travis! That show would COOOOOK!!! It would be so cool to have my guys on the Lineman Lounge talking football with the Kelce brothers. We would definitely have to plan outfits - call me crazy but Mike and Evo have very similar features to Jason and Travis...
Anyway, while watching, towards the end of the show Travis and Adam had apparently run into each other at a Taylor Swift concert! Travis’s reaction was the sweetest. Doesn’t over do the praise, but knows his woman is AMAZING. Now, I’m not going to lie, I was not a huge T. Swift fan, but if I’m being completely honest with myself, it’s because I was jealous. I mean, look at that woman! She is beautiful and talented, successful, writes her own songs and just overall a good person. I hope to be half the woman Taylor Swift is someday.
When Travis and Taylor came out into the world dating, I was like “aww, they are cute together”. Even on the show, the Lineman Lounge, the guys talked about her. She is a girl, supporting her man in his career. When you love someone, you take the time to learn what is most important to them and support them! I didn't understand why the media found it necessary to meddle in the lives of these humans... however, now it all makes sense and the way it has played out has been EXTREMELY beneficial for the NFL as a whole. Taylor Swift has a VERY BIG fan base, and that VERY BIG fan base, probably didn’t watch much football, prior to the 2023 NFL season.
The stats are all there. Taylor Swift attracted new viewers to watch the Kansas City Chiefs play football, and the media knew that. So, they made it a point to show her beautiful face at every happy, sad, angry, frustrating moment of the games she attended because they wanted to see Taylors’ reaction, because the WORLD wanted to see Taylors’ reaction.
With the new fanbase who enjoy seeing Taylor Swift every game day, there were also the people out there complaining at every T. Swift sighting. People are so ANGRY that Taylor Swift has been a part of football news, and I don’t get it! It’s not like she is out there blasting her political views or doing some heinous act! She is attending a football game with her boyfriend's family, watching him play a game that he loves because remember, that's what we do when we love someone, we support them and learn about the things that they love!
This is one of my favorite controversial statements, "Taylor Swift put Travis Kelce on the MAP!"
The truth to this really depends on the perspective of which fanbase… fans who have been around for years, obviously are going to have a negative opinion about this right? Well, to the Swifties out there, Taylor Swift made Travis Kelce and the NFL exist! A whole new population of Football fans have been created! Instead of criticizing, maybe these “Old” NFL fans should be thanking Taylor Swift for showing the light to those who may have been bored by football. There is a whole generation of new football fans that will be the future of the NFL, so I think it's important that new fans continue to be created and begin to understand football, so the game continues to stay alive!
Something I don't think people take into consideration is the frustration that Taylor and Travis (TnT) might be feeling. I bet none of the keyboard warriors out there gave any thought to that. Taylor Swift didn't ask for the cameras to be all up in her business! I'm sure it comes with being a celebrity, but she isn't dancing around in that box with her shirt off for attention! Like I stated before, she is there to support her boyfriend in living his dreams, just like he does for her!
Patrick Mahomes has told the media that she is really starting to learn and enjoy the game and even creating plays! I don’t think a man invites a woman to be a part of the things he finds most important if he isn’t serious about spending his life with her! MARRY HER TRAVIS!!!!
Also, if she is helping create plays, I CAN NOT WAIT to see the “Shake It Off Shuffle” or “You Belong with Me Blitz” run in Arrowhead Stadium. Also, I hope it is acknowledged on live TV! I want Pat to tell us in the interview after the game that a big play that scored some points was drawn up by Taylor! Gosh, that would really grind some gears!!

So, to all the haters – Let TnT have their beautiful Love Story!!
Leave Taylor and her Swifties alone and let them be a part of the NFL fan base – even if they support the worst team in the NFL (also the best team, which I am aware of the Super Bowl wins). Barf 😊
